Trouble with my truck landed us in Middle Tennessee (Dickson) on a Friday evening for the start of 3 days and 4 nights of waiting ('til Monday morning) for a professional opinion and vehicular service. Deciding to turn lemons into lemonade we made good use of our base of operations located some 35 miles West of Nashville. We explored the local area and then went into the Music City.

Although subdued by the Pandemic, the music scene in Nashville is alive and well.
I was also able to do 3 very nice rides on what turned out to be quite a serendipitous network of rural backroads in Dickson County. Photos from each day appear below to give a flavor of the area. I could spend some more quality time riding here, especially in January when the weather is cold to the locals but quite a bit warmer to us Yankees. The first photo is from a ride on backroads to the South of Dickson, Tennessee. The country roads to the North and East of Dickson and through the small community of Burns were sampled on the second ride. Wet roads and a sometimes light drizzle accompanied me on the rural roads to the West and ran roughly parallel to I-40 for most of the 3rd ride.

Of additional note is the Natchez Trace Parkway, located between Dickson and Nashville, near the small; village of Pegram, Tennessee. A brief scan of the road near the Northern Terminus convinced me that I have to go back and ride it. "The Trace" is a route that has been used by people for thousands of years to get from near Nashville down to Natchez, Mississippi. Today it is a 450-mile long, limited access roadway that is tailor made for a bicycle tour. The allure is hard to describe until you see it for yourself.

Here are a few other photos from that weekend:
I found a nibbled donut on Old Route 46, near Dickson, Tennessee. After having posted it on a social media website, a lot of comments were generated... mostly urging me to finish it.
